Hey all,

bin some time. We have been preparing something special for some of you (actually for all, but it may be interesting to some more than to others). We created a new community page for all of us to exchange ideas, news and points of views around No More War, SCI and peace / nonviolence stuff. It is also the community we use together with volunteers and hopefully also soon with the branches to prepare and do the peace caravan. So if you want to join in on stuff related to any of that, please feel welcome to join us by registering here:

http://community.no-more-war.net/register

There is small introduction articles once you are registered, so you don’t get lost. If you have any problems or other feedback, please write a comment! The most important thing to know – everything happens in groups, so first thing – join groups. Second thing, add friends, since for some groups you need friends to invite you :)

Hope this works out and you will find good use for it! We are still at the beginning and hope to see this grow into a vibrant community of people enriching each other via opinion, news, research, discussions or just encouraging others to walk the path of peace :)

Warm hugs to all,

Georg

P.S.: The new community will not replace this blog. It serves a more directly connecting instead of informing purpose :) So you won’t miss anything big of No More War if you don’t join. But you will probably miss out on discussing with us about topics, project ideas and stuff :)

Hey all,

the No-More-War Campcoordinator training 2011 is done, and boy/girl/everybody, what a seminar it was – reports from participants are coming one by one and they confirm our suspicions and convictions that this was an amazing and inspiring training for participants and trainers (me and Matteo) alike – details will follow!

Apart from that, we have two more NMW-Camps in our list from Nigeria and Malaysia – an Italian one will be added this week as well!

To support the camp coordinators world-wide, Jenny, our own NMW superwoman from SCI Austria finished the newest iteration of the NMW-Toolkit – which you can download in the ‘Materials‘-Section of this webpage!

More to come during the next days – in peace, Georg

Amnesty International has published its new report on the human rights situation world-wide.

You can find an introduction here:

http://amnesty.org/en/annual-report/2011/introduction

The details about single countries can be accessed via the following link:

http://amnesty.org/en/annual-report/2011/country-data

More on the key issues of this year as Freedom of Expression, International Justice, Corporate Accountability and Middle East and North Africa can be found on this page

http://amnesty.org/en/annual-report/2011/key-issues

I also included the amnesty-international news on this page on the right side bar together with the headlines from democracy now. That way it is quite easy to stay up to date with news about human rights and political issues!

Dear readers,

as you probably noticed sometimes two weeks go by without a new article O_o

To improve the news-flow, I am now officially looking for people willing to help writing articles and becoming part of a no-more-war blog editing team. The work is not too much actually. Right now for one person, it takes about two hours every week to write a nice article but still I do not always have the time, especially if I am travelling or studying a lot. So helping hands are highly appreciated :)

Hey all,

time for another update – preparation sucks up most of my time, so updates are quite scarce right now…

Here at least some bit from Michael Nagler, a scientist researching nonviolent ways. He wrote an article over at truthout.org about “How to replace the war system”. Sounds perfect for sharing with you :D

Here one of the encouraging and inspiring bits from the end of the article:

I encourage anyone who hasn’t already done so to familiarize him- or herself with the alternatives to war that fall into three broad categories: 1) living more lightly on the earth, since most wars today are fought over its View full article »

Yay, finally an update. Had to recover from a cold (still not completely over it…) and my computer had to recover from hard drive failure BUT finally here are pictures from a no-more-war workcamp in Germany which is right now taking place in the wonderful town called Wustrow, where volunteers from Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Germany, Japan and other countries (please tell me which others… my brain is still not fully functional :) ) are helping restaurating the house of a local peace organization there. Additionally they are working on fixing bikes for the other groups to easily explore the beautiful nature around and doing trips to other towns in the area :)

As of the time of writing, two months have passed since this blog was created :) And 772 times people watched its content and there is more to come :D – just to let you know, some reports of no-more-war workcamps are being written right now and hopefully at the beginning of next week the first one will be online, so there will be some diversion from the usual informational posts I write for you :)

If you also visited a no-more-war workcamp and would like to send pictures for us to show them, I would be more than happy to receive them. If you want to write a short report, give people an idea what you were working on, have nice stories of how you helped towards a nonviolent world – feel free to mail all of this to me: georg@no-more-war.net

This page is created and used by participants and affiliates of the No More War group within Service Civil International, a global volunteer peace organization created after World War I.

Here we share our experiences, news and pictures related to Pacifism and Nonviolence – stopping war means ‘to spread across barriers which divide men a new spirit which will render morally impossible war between nations’ (to quote the founder of SCI, Pierre Ceresole).

To make this point more understandable, here a quote from the constitution of the UNESCO:
“That since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed”.

From the violent point of perspective, Hermann Goering, head of the German Luftwaffe and Nazi founder of the Gestapo is quoted with the following sentences:
“The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.”

We are going the long road of inspiring people towards living together peacefully. Some moments of this road we will share with you on this page…

Enjoy the moment, step by step :-)
